Movie
Language : English+Hindi+a little Bengali
Source: DVD
My Dristikon : * * * * *

Brief:
This time i would say what the movie is not about!.. the movie is not about homosexuality, it is not a story of a gay, and it does not talk bout life of a gay. The movie is about how one perceives life. It is the sensitivity and simplicity of the movie that touches me the most. It is not a conventional chick flick and a must watch for parallel cinema lovers.

Charulata

Charulata

Media form:
Movie
Language : Bengali
Source: YouTube, also available in DVD
My Dristikon : * * * *

Brief: Its English name or punch line reads as "The story of a Lonely Wife"
To me it was a story of any and every women. The strong characterization talks a lot about women of the 20th century... talented, intelligent, good looking, frustrated, underestimated. Charulata also seems to b a refection of the questions imposed on the position of a woman in Indian society.
A deeply layered script with great direction and powerful acting.

Best Moments:
the swinging love

the eye

the helplessness\anger

the confidence

the ignored news

Chanakya and Chanakya Neeti

Chanakya

Media form:
TV Serial on DD National -1992
Category : History\India\People
Source: YouTube, also available in DVD packs
My Dristikon : * * * * *

Brief: Chanakya (चाणक्य) is a 47-part Indian television historical drama written and directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi. It was telecast on DD National when i was a kid. Most of the times i lost track due to the ornate Hindi and Sanskrit language used :P but the rhythm of the Shlokas till date are fresh. I got back to it when i was in search of having a better understanding of Indian Education System and Corporate world place politics.

Favorite Moments:
The alone kid: "jinka koi nahi hota use kuch khone ka bhay nahi hota! mai aab azad hun."

Fathers Advice:
" jiske aathon mein gyan ka shashtra hota hai use kisi chez ka bhay nahi hota. tum apne andar gyan ki aagin ko janam dena, jalna gyan ke praksh mein jalna, suraj na sahi deepak tho zarur banna!"

About the education\national systems : rashtra ki raksha agar shasahn nahi kar saka tho uski raksha SHIKSHAK ke haat mein hai! : If the nation is not protected by its leaders it needs to be protected by its Teachers!

Power: "Shashan ke aage nahi sachayi chalti hai nahi chaturayi, shashan ko ek hi bhasa samajh mein aati hai, aur who hai shakkti ya bal!"

Chankaya Neeti

Media form: Book
Category : Political Ethics\Nitishastra and Arthashastra\Economics and Political Science
Source: Available at Landmark, Crosswords and others
My Dristikon : * * * *

Brief: Quite remarkably Chanakya had already written many wonderful ideas in his book ‘Chanakyaniti’
‘Arthashastra’ and ‘Nitishastra’ much before we come across books like "The Art of War" or "Gita in Everyday Practice" . The book has his concepts and ideas on diverse subjects such as love, corruption, politics, women, how one should behave, the art of war, power and many others.
The book tho is in the form of Shlokas in Sanskrit - English - and its meaning. I wish there was some more details in the book never the less the short examples are brilliant to stay ever in your head. Think need to get going with Sanskrit now :)
